It was recommended I take B3 to reduce my risk of melanoma. I take nicotinamide. Will this interfere with B1/B2 supplementation you recommended for me?
it could interfere. It depends on how much you're taking and how often you're taking it. So I typically don't recommend high doses of niacin. I don't recommend taking high doses every day because it can interfere with methylation and it can reduce the rate of methylation. So I mean, the small amount that is in the two per day multi or the small amount that can be found in most multivitamins, that's typically enough for most people. And then large doses of B3 can sometimes become a problem. But you know, in your case, Mimi, so it's been recommended to reduce your risk of melanoma. So, I mean, you can keep taking it. I don't want you, I don't wanna tell you to stop taking it because it could very well reduce your risk of melanoma. I'm not really sure though. I haven't really looked into that enough. So if you do continue taking it, I would just try to stick to, don't go above 500 milligrams per day. So that's already a high dose, but I really wouldn't go higher than that. And it would just be better if you took it even every other day as well. So let's say you're taking 500 milligrams. You could take it every other day instead of every day. So, that's what I would recommend, but it's obviously up to you. And then, we would know if the niacin is actually interfering with your progress by looking at your organic acids test results. So let's say your markers aren't moving in the right direction. Then at that point, I would say, are you still taking niacin and how much are you taking? And then I would suggest reducing your dosage at that point. So, yeah, so that's what I think. So yeah, you can take it. I just, my recommendation would be, don't take more than 500 milligrams and try to take it every other day. And then, it's hard to say if it would interfere for sure and the best way to know would be to see the results of your organic acids test after you've been taking it for some time. So that's when I would make tweaks and make recommendations to, for example, take more B2. If you're taking the B3, reduce the B3. Sometimes I tell people to take more B1. So it really depends on the results of your organic acid test as well.
