What do you think about GABA and theanine?
Yeah, I mean they can help some people some of the time. So you can take them if you want, but I don't include them in the program because there's still, they're not much different than medication. They're band aid supplements, right? They're just covering up the anxiety, which is fine. I mean, there's still a time and a place to do that and I mean they have, they typically have less side effects than medications. So I mean, and they're especially helpful if you're trying to get off medications, well, GABA not so much, but theanine can be helpful. So yeah, I don't, I don't have a problem with you taking them if you're, if you have anxiety, but I mean, I used to take them myself. I didn't take Gaba, I never really noticed anything from Gaba, but I did notice benefits from theanine, but I don't take it anymore. And so what you, in the long run, what you want to do is you want to, you want to do neurofeedback and you want to do emdr and then you want to do everything that I talk about in the week six module. So then eventually you don't need the theanine either, right? So you can stop that as well. So that's the long term goal. But in the, in the meantime, if you, if you feel like you need it and you do find it helpful, then you can go ahead and you can use it.
_____
So you can take them if you want, but they're not part of the program for a reason. Because they don't get to the root cause. They're still Band-Aid approaches. Both GABA and theanine, they're not that much different than taking anti-anxiety medication except their natural supplements. And they typically have less side effects. But yeah, they're not part of the program for that reason. So yeah, I don't have a problem with you taking them. I would suggest trying to just take them as needed and then focusing more on what I recommend throughout the program. But if you absolutely feel like you need to take it at this point, either of them, then yeah, you can go ahead. You can do that. I just think there's better ways to overcome the anxiety long term.
