What are your specific recommendations in regards to how and when to take these supplements? DL-phenylalalnine, tyrosine, theanine, ashwagandha, as far as a schedule, including amounts
So you have to experiment and you'll have to see,it really depends on how you react to all these supplements, right? So you want to, you want to try introducing one at a time, so start at a lower dosage for each and then see, see how you react to each one before you go and you introduce another one. And then slowly increase the dosage of each until you, you find your optimal dosage.
Because tthe thing with these supplements is there's a point at which taking more doesn't help. So you, you just want to find and keep taking the lowest dosage that helps you and no more than that. And this is in, this is in regards to amino acids like DLPA, tyrosine, like herbs, like ashwagandha, that's what you're asking about, right? So you just want to find the right dosage for you, that you notice, oh, this is helping. And then keep creeping up until you find that you're not getting any more benefits and perhaps you're experiencing side effects. For example, tyrosine can give people energy, it can improve their mood, but what it can do is it can also, at a higher dosage, it can increase anxiety. So you just want to know when you're noticing that you don't want to go any higher than that, right? So that's just one example.
So they, they should also all be taken on an empty stomach. So the amino acids, ashwagandha, yeah. So take them on an empty stomach. And then so the theanine, the tyrosine, the ashwagandha, so they can be taken as needed. They don't necessarily need to be taken every day. I would just use them when you feel like you need them. So as you're lowering the dosage of your antidepressants, you may find that you're, you have a day when you're really anxious or you're panicked or you're just having terrible symptoms and try one of them or whatever one you have found at this point is helpful. And then you take the dosage that you've figured out is helpful. So you can take them as needed.
So on an empty stomach, find the best dosage, take it on an empty stomach, take it as needed.
Now, so the DL-phenylalanine, DLPA can be taken more regularly. So I was taking that every day when I came off psychiatric drugs and when I came off my antidepressants. So I started by taking it every day, but then eventually I was taking it, I think it was, it was every day then it was three times a week, then it was two times a week, then it was once a week. Then I eventually came off of that as well. And I kept taking that after I was off of all my psychiatric medications. And then I went and did neurofeedback and then I went and did EMDR and then over time I just didn't need it at all anymore. So that was the one of the main transition supplements that got me off of all the medications and then maintain me afterwards as well, stabilize me after.
So anyway, so you can take that more regularly. So I was saying the other ones you can take as needed, but you can take the DL-phenylalanine every day, and of course, again, it goes back to what I said originally, depends on how you respond to it. So you could take it and you don't feel good on it or it doesn't help you. So in that case, what I'm saying doesn't apply, right? But yeah, so that's what I think. It does take some experimentation, so I can't really exactly, I can't tell you exactly what to do. But those are my general guidelines when it comes to these supplements and coming off antidepressants.
And the other thing I wanted to say, I just thought of it, about the DLPA. so the DLPA so it allowed me to reduce the dosage of my medications more quickly. I noticed because I had tried coming off of psychiatric drugs a bunch of other times before the final time that I came off of them. And you know, I had trouble lowering my dosage, but when I introduced the DLPA while I was still on my medications, I was able to drop my dosage more quickly. So it made the whole process faster. Now, I'm not suggesting you should definitely race off of these drugs, that's not what I'm saying, but I just found that it, it allowed me to reduce my dosage more quickly over time. So anyways, I just want to bring that up because that is where I would start. So anyways, I just wanted to mention that as well. It, I remember I introduced it and then I was able to like half the dosages of my medications quite quickly.
