Can we use B12 patches instead of injections?
There is very little research to suggest that B12 patches work. In fact, I've seen some research suggesting they don't work at all, and I have never seen them work well with my clients who have decided to try them. That's why I don't recommend them. My most successful clients get the best results when they stick with injections. There is significantly more research to suggest that injections work.
It's possible someone could get lucky, and the patches do end up working for them and helping them, and they're potentially better than nothing. But I wouldn't risk it considering how detrimental an untreated B12 deficiency can be. Injections are still the best option, and they definitely work best.
I have always recommended injections because they work best and have been shown to work best in the research. I've always wanted to recommend the best evidence-based option to my clients because I want them to experience the best results. I know injections can be difficult, but they really are the best way to restock the brain and nervous system with the active forms of B12. So I would still highly recommend sticking with them as much as possible.
If you do decide to try the patches, I would still recommend doing injections as much as possible in combination with the patches. You would still want to do injections at least weekly, in combination with the daily patches.
