I take my thyroid medication once per day before breakfast. How does this work in conjunction with the iodine and selenium?
Well, you can take the iodine and selenium around the same time that you take your thyroid medication. And then the iodine and selenium will help increase the effectiveness of your thyroid medication.
The iodine will help increase your T4 naturally and reduce your need for your medication. And the selenium will help convert T4 into T3.
But you should still keep taking your thyroid medication. You’ll just want to monitor how you feel. Many of my clients end up having to reduce the dosage of their thyroid medication or they come off it entirely over time.
If you start to experience symptoms of hyperthyroidism, or your TSH drops below 0.5, then you will want to work with your doctor to reduce the dosage of your thyroid medication.
But you should keep taking your medication for now.
