I have a question in regards to the hair test, I currently have color treated hair, will I still be able to send in a sample of my hair for testing?

I’m fairly certain that dyed hair is not recommended by Great Plains. I think they say that you shouldn’t send them coloured hair. You’ll need to call them and confirm.

Just grow out your hair a bit and don’t colour it. You need to send them one inch worth of hair. So grow out your hair an inch without colouring it. Then cut off that inch of hair and send it in to the lab.

Now, the reason the labs recommend not using coloured hair is likely because hair dyes often contain heavy metals. So your hair test results could then show very high levels of heavy metals.

But I don’t look at the heavy metals in the hair. I just look at the minerals.

And if you dye your hair, you’re adding chemicals to your hair. And theoretically, those chemicals shouldn’t change the amount of minerals in your hair. The amount of minerals in your hair would still be the same.

So in my opinion, I’m pretty sure your test results would be fine for my purposes. And hair dye shouldn’t make too much of a difference in your mineral results.

But the labs recommend not using dyed hair. So it’s probably best to just send them a sample of non-coloured hair. Or call them and see what they have to say.
