How important is it to keep taking potassium? I stopped for a while and everything seemed fine, but eventually noticed I had a dull headache most of the time. I did get back on the potassium 2 weeks ago to test this out and have had less headaches, so I suspect that was the problem.
Yes, the low potassium can creep up on you. I’ve noticed that as well. I’ve stopped taking potassium for a while, then I decide to take 400 mg and I feel a sudden uptick in energy again.
So I’ve made it clear that potassium can be used as needed to reduce reactions from the minerals. But sometimes people need to take it consistently every day, especially once B12 is introduced.
So that’s why I often say that you need to at least have some potassium around. You don’t necessarily always need to be taking it. But you want to always have some around. Because the only way to know for sure if you need it is by taking it and seeing if you feel better in some way.
