Can I take sublingual B12 supplements? Do they work?
Some people ask me if sublingual supplements work, but they don't work either.
Just like in your stomach, your salivary glands within your mouth secrete haptocorrin.
Like I said before, haptocorrin is the B12-binding protein that protects B12 from being damaged.
But once again, the haptocorrin is saturated quite quickly. It has a limited binding capacity. It can only protect a small amount of B12 at any given time.
So then most of the sublingual supplement is still inactivated.
What I've found is that correcting of B12 deficiency cannot be achieved with any large dose of oral B12. And this includes sublingual supplements. And no oral formulation will work to restock the brain and nervous system with B12.
So no, you shouldn't take sublingual. They don't work.
